The East Greenbush Central School District has announced that the District's school tax bills will be mailed to District residents on Wednesday, September 15, 2010. The tax collection period is September 15, 2010 to October 15, 2010, without payment of a penalty.
School tax bill calculations are based on property assessed value, equalization rate, and the town's share of the overall tax levy. It should be noted that the town assessors have responsibility for the assessed values; the Office of Real Property Services has responsibility for equalization rates. In some cases, changes in equalization rates may impact how much individual towns share proportionately in the school tax levy.
This year, the combined district-wide tax levy increase, for all towns, is 0.6%. This is lower than District’s projection in May of 3.55%. The actual tax rate for specific towns vary due to State determined equalization rates and reassessments of properties in the Towns of East Greenbush, Schodack, and Sand Lake. The 2010 school tax rates, per $1,000 of assessed value, are as follows:

The current tax bill shows a 0.6% increase in the overall tax levy from budget to budget. This is not the tax rate for your individual town, which is calculated separately.
The school district does not receive tax collections. Payments should be mailed to: Key Bank of New York, 1817 Columbia Turnpike, Castleton, NY 12033. If you choose to pay your taxes in person, you may do so at that location or the Key Bank of New York located on Route 4 in the Rensselaer County Plaza (Wal-Mart Shopping Center). Town of Schodack residents wishing to pay their taxes in person may do so at the Schodack Town Hall.
