A Message From Superintendent Nagle

Dear School Community,

With the end of another school year comes the memories that mark the year as well as the time to say these words to some…“good-bye and best wishes,” “thank you,” and “happy retirement.”  I would like to express my deepest gratitude to our retirees for your years of dedicated service to the students of the East Greenbush Central School District.  Each of you has made a significant impact on our students and District programs and you will be missed.  I would also like to recognize the staff members that will not be with us next year due to budget reductions or personal decisions to pursue other exciting endeavors.  Thank you for your hard work and your dedication to our students and school district.

During the 2009-2010 school year, much was accomplished.  As a District, we established District-wide committees to review English Language Arts, Reading, Mathematics and Physics.  This committee work allowed colleagues to get to know each other and gain a better understanding of curriculum challenges and opportunities that exist across the school district.  Our Regents examination results and 3-8 New York State Assessment scores continue to be strong and this is a reflection of the commitment and talents of our staff.  Great gains have been made with the use of data analysis to identify areas that need reinforcement with our students.

As we look ahead to another school year that will quickly be upon us, we are all rejuvenated by the new challenges that the coming year will present.  District-wide, we will be working on programs to increase the graduation rate and assist all students to graduate from high school.  The economic times will continue to challenge each one of us and will propel us to reexamine operations for efficiency and effectiveness.  Over the summer, the $9 million renovation project will be completed and we will revisit the need for additional repairs to some of our oldest schools that were built prior to 1950.  Changes adopted by the New York State Board of Regents will transform the way all schools evaluate teacher and administrator performance and we will look positively upon these changes and together improve student learning.

This has been a great year because of our school community!  On behalf of myself and the East Greenbush Board of Education, please have a wonderful summer.  We wish each of you special times with family and friends.

Working Together,
Dr. Angela M. Nagle
