HISTORY OF DONALD P. SUTHERLAND ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

Before retiring in June of 1963, Donald P. Sutherland served his students and community for 39 years as director of elementary education for the East Greenbush Central School District and for many years the principal of the Nassau Elementary School.

September of 1929, Mr. Sutherland became principal of District I school in the Village of Nassau. In 1941 when the East Greenbush School District was formed he was appointed director of elementary education.

Mr. Sutherland was born in West Lebanon and he attended West Lebanon High School. He received his B.A. and M.S. degrees while from the  Albany State Teachers College, Syracuse University and Oneonta and New Paltz Teachers College.
