Kente Cloth Weavings (above)
After reading the book, Spider Weaver, and learning about how Kente Cloth is created in Africa, we designed three sets of patterns using geometric shapes and many colors. We made our looms, by wrapping the warp threads around the top and bottom of the cardboard and then weaving our weft threads (paper strips) through.

Ceramic Bowls
We used a styrofoam bowl to mold our slab circle, and then pressed found objects into it. We first glazed the outside, and fired them in the kiln. All the bowls started to look different once the textures were pressed in and watercolor paints (including metallic paints!) were applied. Beautiful results!
