RACHEL'S CHALLENGE

Rachel’s Challenge/Friends of Rachel Club –

The Friends of Rachel Club has been working to continue promoting a positive school climate by creating activities for the whole building to be involved in.  The goals for all the students this year are:

  • Look for the Best in Others.
  • Dare to Dream – Set personal goals.
  • Choose positive influences.
  • Speak and act with kindness.
  • Start a chain reaction of kindness and compassion with friends and family.

The Friends of Rachel Club has put posters around the building supporting the five goals.  Friends of Rachel have also been encouraging people with simple weekly goals.  Here are two examples of weekly goals that have been encouraged to all students and staff:

“Can you recall how you felt the last time someone gave you a great compliment?
Some compliments last a lifetime.  The Friends of Rachel Club is asking everybody for the next week to participate in “Compliment Week.”  During compliment week we are asking everyone to choose one person a day that you would not ordinarily compliment.  Make it a good one!”

“Open Door Week - Open the door for other people or allow them to enter first.  Greet these people with a smile and a hello.  This common courtesy may have an uncommon affect on the people you greet.”

The Friends of Rachel club is currently working on the following:

  • A book drive
  • Mix It Up Day
  • Chain links for the Chain Reaction of Kindness

Meetings are held during the school day and after school.  Any student at any time can join Friends of Rachel to help with activities for the whole building.  Students should listen to the announcements for meeting times.
