Seeking highly energetic and creative professionals with knowledge of ancient civilizations. You will be responsible for selecting artifacts from the museum's collection and designing displays that intrigue visitors and enhance their knowledge. Please call 1-800-artifact to schedule an interview appointment. You will also need to prepare a presentation to bring with you. The museum's Board of Directors has set up the following criteria for your presentation: |

Prepare a PowerPoint presentation of Mesopotamia, to be viewed by visitors, before they enter this section of the museum. Your slide presentation should give visitors an overview of why Mesopotamia is considered a civilization as well as pique their curiosity. So be sure and choose interesting artifacts and give intriguing details. There are several sources below to assist you with finding artifacts. During your interview you will show your power point presentation to the museum’s Board of Directors. If this assignment is completed in a timely, creative, and accurate fashion you will receive the highest recommendations for the curator position. In addition, if you are hired you will be sent on an expedition to ancient Mesopotamia (modern day Iraq), where a new ancient city containing the remains of over 100 human bodies has just been discovered.
Mesopotamia is considered the earliest civilization; therefore it is important that your presentation contain slides that represent the many characteristics that make up a civilization (see definition below). |

- Describe its relative location
- Identify the rivers that ran through it
- Explain why the geography of this area helped to make it an ideal place for a civilization to thrive.
CHOOSE 4 CHARACTERISTICS
Slide #3 - #6 Characteristics of a Civilization
Each of these slides should represent a different characteristic of a civilization: writing, religion, public works, specialization of labor, social class, government, art/architecture, and cities. Your slides should contain:
- Phot of artifact(s)
- Object's name (optional – where the artifact was found)
- Description of how this artifact represents the characteristic you are describing in your slide.
Slide #7 Intriguing Slide
- Describe an artifact that you find intriguing and add a photo of it.
Slide #8 Conclusion
- Conclude your presentation (i.e. Tell your visitors to enjoy themselves, to be sure and visit again, highlight an item from the collection etc.) BE CREATIVE!

**IMPORTANT DIRECTIONS TO ENSURE SUCCESS**
- For all slides you must use your own words. Do not cut and paste text.
- Check each slide for correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
- All 8 slides must be completed with text and photo before adding special effects (color, sound, animation, etc.). Check with the museum’s personnel director to receive clearance (The director will check your slides and give you a clearance card when ready).
- Using the rubric, have a peer assess your completed presentation. Correct your mistakes.
