TRANSPORTATION

Walkers must have written parental permission to walk to school. You must arrive by 7:50 a.m. The main office will compile a list of those who have permission to walk. This list will be kept on file in the main office. Those students who have written permission to walk must wait in the main lobby until all buses have left.

Bike Riders must arrive at school no later than 7:50 a.m. Any student riding a bike to school must use the bike rack at the front of the building. Bicycles are not to be put anywhere else during the day. Remember to use a bike lock. Bike riders must wait for all buses to leave the property before they are dismissed. The main office will compile a list of those who have permission to ride a bike. This list will be kept on file in the main office. Students – you are reminded that N.Y.S. Law requires the use of helmets by children thru the age of 14.

Bus Rules In addition to the school rules, the following rules MUST be followed on the bus:

  1. Follow directions of the bus driver the first time given.
  2. Stay seated AT ALL TIMES.
  3. Respect the rights and property of others.
  4. Keep all parts of your body and all objects inside the bus and to yourself.
  5. Do not throw anything within or out of the bus.
  6. Talk quietly and use appropriate language. Keep the bus clean.
  7. Eating, drinking, or smoking on the bus is a violation of NYS law.
  8. Physical contact is a distracting to the driver. No horseplay on the bus

If a student breaks a rule, the following consequences apply:  

  1. Driver speaks to student.
  2. Student is assigned a designated seat.
  3. Bus behavior referral, parent is contacted by the school administration.
  4. Conference with student, bus driver, school administrator and transportation supervisor.
  5. Conference with above, plus parent.

Severe Misbehavior:

  • Suspension of bus privileges.
  • Parent must provide alternate transportation.

The following examples of inappropriate behavior result in automatic suspension of transportation privileges:  

  1. Physical altercations, threatening, and/or endangering another person.
  2. Possession of any illegal substances or dangerous objects.
  3. A serious disruption which creates a safety hazard.
