District to Launch Facebook Page

On Monday, February 13th, the East Greenbush Central School District will launch its official Facebook page.  This foray into the world of social media will allow the community to share in the artistic, academic and athletic accomplishments of the district’s students.

Superintendent Dr. Angela M. Nagle explained, “One of the Board of Education’s goals for the 2011-2012 school year is to cultivate district communications and increase community involvement in our schools. With the launch of the district Facebook page, we are one step closer to achieving that goal.”

The district Facebook page will provide students, parents and the community at large with real time information about upcoming events and student and faculty achievements, as well as communication regarding the ongoing challenges facing the East Greenbush Central School District and schools throughout New York State.

The district will continue to use its website, e-blasts and more traditional communications tools.  Facebook is another method for keeping the public up-to-date on school happenings.

“Registered Facebook users will be able to provide feedback by posting comments,” Nagle noted, “provided that posts adhere to the district Facebook guidelines for commenting. We want to provide a useful forum for discussion and feedback.”

“Many of the Suburban Council school districts already have launched Facebook pages with great success. The district Facebook page will provide another way for us to communicate with the public,” Nagle said.
